Elementary ESLR awards

In Elementary Chapel today, awards were given out for ELSR #2: Learning Students. Two students from each class were selected as examples of being academically sound, learning students.

Secondary Parent Teacher Conference Sign-Up

October 24-25, Logos will host fair-style Parent-Teacher Conferences for parents of students in grades 6-12.  All secondary and specials teachers will be available in the Multipurpose Room. Parents can stop by and chat with any of their student’s teachers on Thursday from 3:30 to 6:00 or on Friday from 1:00 to 4:00. If you are planning to attend, please complete this sign-up form. Signing-up allows teachers time to prepare to discuss your child’s progress. If you do not sign-up, you may still attend, but teachers may not be as prepared to discuss your child.

Elementary Parent Teacher Conferences

Elementary Parent-Teacher conferences will also be held on Thursday afternoon, October 24th, from 3:30 – 6:00pm; and on Friday, October 25th, from 1:00 – 4:00pm – in your student’s classroom.  This is a time for you to talk with your student’s teacher about how they are progressing so far this year. Unless specifically requested by the classroom teacher, these meetings are designed to be between the parents and the teacher and are not a time for student participation.

Language Development for Bilingual Students – Parent Training Class

How can parents best support their children to be bilingual?
Come learn the answer to this question and more!

For: Parents
By: Two speech and language therapists – from City University of London volunteering with the City Cambodia Project
What: The bilingualism training will explore how language typically develops with bilingual children and how to best support this development at home. It will also indicate early signs for language disorders and the effect disabilities may have on typical language development whilst clarifying any myths about bilingual use overall.
When: Tuesday, November 5, 2019, 3:30-4:30 pm

LPA English Language Classes

Hello!  How are you today?  Do you want to learn English to speak to your child’s teacher?   Do you want to be able to speak with other Logos parents in the community? 
If so, you may be interested in joining the new LPA sponsored English class.

 When: 1-2 pm, the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month
Where: Room 207 in the Library area

Do you feel it?

Have you noticed the sun is further in the sky, the rain is slowing down and day time heat is rising but the mornings are cooler? It’s a sign that the season is changing. We are entering into the Less Rain, Cooler season prior to the cool season. As we change from rain to dry we experience warm/hot drier days. I see the students have much more perspiration on their faces and at times their clothes are damp. It’s not just our feeling of the season but also a change in childhood diseases. Over the next few weeks we can look at childhood diseases that spring up with the changing seasons.
Today, let’s start by remembering our children need to bring their own water bottles to schools. If they forget, no worries, the front desk sells disposable water bottles for 1,000 Riel (that can then be placed in our recycling bins). If the student does not have any money we will have them call home first to see if a water bottle can be brought to them, if not the student can purchase one and you can send money the next day. Also a change of clothes or at minimum a change of undergarments should be kept in your child’s backpack. I hear students complain that they are uncomfortable sitting in damp clothes. Wearing damp clothing from perspiration can lead to heat rash, itchiness and promote fungal growth. That’s not fun! Let’s support our students by sending them to school with water bottles and a change of clothes as we look forward to changing of seasons.
